Numbrosa6 puzzle notes
From CS Colloquium
The puzzle this week is to solve level 6 of the Numbrosia puzzle at www.numbrosia.com. It is possible in 15 moves. If no one finds the 15 move solution, a prize will go to the best solution. We attempt to update the "best solution so far" daily.
Let's agree on a format to write down a solution. A move is a triplet (r or c, #, action). r is for row, c for column, # is 1..5 and action is from {+,-,u,d,l,r} for add1, minus1, shift up, down, left or right. A solution is a sequence of moves. For example, level 1 can be solved in one move: c5-. Level 2 in 3 moves: c4+,c5u,r5+.
You don't need to register to solve the puzzles, but if you register the website will remember your scores. It does not memorize your solution, but after you solve the puzzle, before you click the "here" link, you can undo and redo to write down your solution. Then click the "here" button for your score to be updated and at that moment your solution is forgotten.
Please submit solutions to Luc Longpre].
